Grilled Lamburgers

I love lamb any way that it’s cooked, but I really enjoy the cheaper cuts the most. I’ll pass up a lamb chop in favor of lamb stew any day of the week. Our meat farm share provides us with some lamb almost every month, and this month we received ground lamb, and my favorite thing to do with it is to grill up some lamburgers. I like to add some fresh herbs to the meat – whatever I have on hand. This evening, I added spring onion and chopped basil, salt, pepper and grilled them up for a tasty dinner. (And I know you’re eyeing those gorgeous potatoes, but you’ll just have to wait for that recipe.)

Lamburgers
Makes 3 burgers

1 lb ground lamb
handful of basil, minced
1 spring onion, minced
salt & pepper to taste

Mince the basil and spring onion, place in a bowl with the ground lamb and mix with your hands to incorporate the the herbs into the meat. Form the meat loosely into three balls, and then form the patties. Preheat your grill, and then grill 4 minutes on the first side, flip the burgers, and then grill 3 more minutes and serve. Garnish with sliced onion and some spicy mustard – Colman’s is our favorite.

  1. Hi Jenn! I have got to get in on the CSA thing – what meat farm do you use?ps – love all the ice cream. you are hard-core! I always forget to freeze the ice cream maker (or don't have room for it even if i did freeze it)

Our veggie CSA is through Home Grown Wisconsin – summer share is full, but there's still time to get in on the Fall/Winter share. http://www.homegrownwisconsin.comOur meat share is through Grass is Greener Gardens – they offer different sized shares, as well as poultry only, and it's all organic pasture raised, and is quite a deal – it works out to be about $7/lb for everything from whole chickens to rack of lamb.   3. Thanks! I am gonna hook up the meat one, I think. That will be perfect since I'll be out of school and home more often after September.ps – i'm officially gonna follow your blog now. i keep checking it from Emily's when i see new ice cream! (and lamb…)
