The First CSA Box of the Season!

Tonight was our first CSA of the season from Home Grown Wisconsin. Check out that spring bounty! I can tell you that all of this miserable rain is making for some incredibly tender and luscious lettuce. We had an amazing salad with dinner tonight (which was scarfed before we took time for photos) topped with fresh, local strawberries – amazing. We’ll be enjoying several more good salads this week, I think. Stay tuned for more recipes from the CSA files as the growing season continues. If you want to learn more about our CSA, check out the newsletter from Home Grown to learn more about the farmers we’re supporting.

This week’s CSA box contained:

  • green garlic
  • rhubarb
  • asparagus
  • mint
  • strawberries
  • spinach
  • butter lettuce
  • red leaf lettuce
  • mushrooms

  1. My grandmother (step-grandmother on my dad's side) made the MOST wonderful strawberry rhubarb pies all summer. Its one of the most evocative summer memories I have. Seeing all that beautiful rhubarb makes me want to try it out!
